During last night’s meeting of the Kankakee City Council, Aldermen gave the final okay to an agreement between the City and Visit Kankakee County, the local Convention and Visitor’s Bureau. After the meeting, Mayor Chris Curtis said as a home-rule community, Kankakee will be looking at increasing the amount of the local hotel tax
Mayor Curtis noted the hotel tax is paid by those visiting the community
Curtis noted the extra funds brought in by the increased hotel tax would be used for economic development and marketing in the City
