During this morning’s meeting of the Kankakee County Board’s Finance Committee, the committee took the first step in abating taxes that would have been collected to pay on money borrowed by the County. County Finance Director Steve McCarty said several of the bonds will be paid off this year
County Board Chairman Andy Wheeler pointed out the abatement means the county won’t be collecting taxes for those loans and it’s a significant amount of money
The abatement now goes to the full board for consideration at its April meeting.
